Take one picture was a project run for schools by the National Gallery and the year we did it it was based on Degas beach scene. We didn’t finish or present the project because of the schools move but we had an interesting time looking at the role of the camera in art and the idea of montage. The children posed for each other as if they were part of a beach scene and we scanned their photos on to the school computer. I then edited the photos so that only the their hands, heads and feet showed. These were printed and the children drew in the missing parts but in Victorian bathing costume . These were stuck on card and were to be built into a beach scene like the one below.
